Summer Assistant - Safer Boating (4x fixed-term roles)

The BOPRC Harbourmaster Team are anticipating a busy summer on the water and are seeking four Safer Boating Summer Assistants to aid in promoting safer boating throughout the rohe.
This is a part-time, fixed term opportunity from 10 December 2025 - 28 January 2026, and may suit school leavers and/or university students.
Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role
Duties will include:
- Promotion and education of Safer Boating message to the community
- Completing boat ramp education throughout the Bay of Plenty region
- Assisting with research and compliance surveys at strategic locations across the Bay of Plenty
- Delivering Safer Boating Resources around the region.
Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience
Ideal applicants will:
- Have a positive attitude
- Be comfortable and confident speaking to the general public
- Be willing and capable of working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Hold a Coastguard Boating Day Skipper certificate (or be willing to complete this as part of the role).
- Be interested in a career in Maritime.
Applicants must be able to work over the Christmas/New Year period.
