We are looking for a new recruit to join our Regulatory Compliance team at Bay of Plenty Regional Council, as a Compliance Officer, specialising in the compliance of water takes that support primary industries.

This is a 2-year fixed term role, working 40 hours per week and is based in Tauranga.

Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role

There will be plenty of variety in this role including:

• Manage a portfolio of groundwater and surface water resource consents including carrying out site inspections to determine compliance against resource consent conditions and regional rules;
• Proactively manage a portfolio of water meter verifications, including interpreting technical information to determine compliance;
• Implementation of any new legislation affecting water takes e.g. RMA Metering Regulations 2020; and
• Liaise with the industry groups that rely on or service water take consents i.e. Irrigation NZ, water meter verifiers and 3^rd party data providers
  

Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience

Along with a passion for your work, you will have;

• A relevant Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent level of experience.
• Minimum two years recent experience in regulatory compliance, preferably in the water resources field.
• A confident manner, with the ability to work autonomously, and communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences.
• Proven ability to review and assess water meter verification reports for accuracy and compliance with water take resource consents and the New Zealand Water Measurement Code of Practice.
• Demonstrated understanding of groundwater bores, surface water takes, and water measurement and reporting infrastructure. Capable of translating technical information into clear, practical advice and building positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
• Hold a full New Zealand driver’s licence.
