We are looking for a talented Graduate Construction Engineer to join our well-respected Engineering team, supporting the delivery of river, drainage, coastal and soil conservation infrastructure projects across the Bay of Plenty. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate, to develop practical skills across engineering design, construction, and project delivery and to gain some great experience working on dynamic river and floodplain systems with real exposure to flood risk management and environmental engineering challenges. 

Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role

This role supports the engineering, construction, survey and hydrology teams by contributing to  engineering investigations, feasibility assessments, design and delivery of capital works and major maintenance programmes associated with river schemes, drainage, coastal and soil conservation activities.

As a Graduate Construction Engineer, you will;

  • Assist with preparation of contract and tender documentation, support contract administration and supervision in accordance with Council and NZS3910 contract procedures.
  • Assist with engineering investigations, feasibility assessments, design tasks and survey activities.
  • Prepare construction drawings and quantity estimates using computer-aided software.
  • Support hydrological and hydraulic analysis of rivers, floodplains and coastal systems, including data analysis and interpretation.
  • Contribute to project planning, cost estimation, budgeting and delivery of engineering projects.
  • Work with contractors, consultants, landowners and the community to support delivery of projects. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers while developing capability across engineering design, construction management and project delivery.


Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience

  • Relevant Engineering Degree; or NZ Diploma in Engineering
  • Some practical experience related to aspects of this role is beneficial.
  • Foundational knowledge of hydrology, environmental processes or civil engineering systems
  • Awareness of project or construction management principles.
