We are recruiting for a Maritime Officer II (Moorings) to join our professional, hardworking Maritime Team.   
We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in the maritime industry
  • An eye for detail and systems administration
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skill

Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role

In this role, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all moorings within the boundaries of BOPRC are administered and managed according to relevant bylaws and legislation.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with moorings owners that reflect the standards required by BOPRC.
  • Regularly responding to wide range of maritime incidents and occasionally required to respond to maritime emergencies.
  • Handling difficult onsite face-to-face confrontational situations when dealing with the public, regarding complaints and non-compliance of navigation and safety regulations and bylaws.
  • Providing technical vessel skippering services as required.
  • Conducting internal and contractor health and safety and operational audits.

Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience

To be successful, you will need to have:

  • A Skipper Restricted Limits Licence (or equivalent) to permit operation of council vessels.
  • Experience in the marine industry, competent boating, organisational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of navigation and safety legislation and environmental trends.
  • High computer literacy.
  • Communication skills which will enable you to communicate with a range of people both verbally and in writing.
  • Flexibility with hours of work and be available to work after hours and weekends as part of the Duty Roster.
